Some of my favorite type of work is sound design for TV and film. Whether it’s sound design, foley, editing, or mixing sound for video, be it in TV series, film or commercials. It’s intricate and detailed work. The most effective type of audio post-production makes for a completely immersive experience for the viewer. This means the details aren’t usually noticed by your average viewer….but this is where the greatness in the work lies! Sound and video go hand in hand, hence my curiosity for video editing led me to learn this skill years ago. So if you also happen to need a quick edit for your project look no further!
Some of my work below:
From A to B
Ali Mostafa’s sophomore feature film contained (as usual) an intriguing mix of regional and Hollywood actions. His unique vision brought to light some of the issues plaguing the region for so long in an informative yet respectful way. This project was the first big budget feature film I worked on and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had on any project! Below is the trailer from this film of which you’ll find my work all over it from recording to editing to sound design and mixing.
Mandoos
Brilliant animator/director Mohammed Saeed Harib took the UAE and the Middle East by storm when he released his first animated cartoon Freej. His ability to capture the essence of UAE culture was best highlighted in this medium and no one has managed to do it better. Mandoos was the first time he worked on a project outside of Freej and it tells the story of UAE history and culture to children. Mohammed has one of the most creative minds I know and I was truly challenged as I worked to bring his vision to light. It remains some of my best work. As the main engineer on this project, I recorded and edited the voices, did the post-production and sound design (from scratch) mixed, and mastered each and every episode. Mandoos aired on TV in the UAE during the month of Ramadan and became a cultural sensation.
Speak of the devil
This was the first horror project I ever worked on. It was a pitch for a movie. It pushed the boundaries of highlighting the “creepy” factor using silence and combining it with impactful sounds in bigger scenes. Definitely looking forward to more horror projects in the future!
